Neith - Ancient Egyptian Goddess of Weaving
Neith is the name of a very ancient Egyptian Goddess, one who is most known for her wisdom, creativity, and warrior nature. She was ruler of arrows, often depicted with a bow in one hand and arrows in the other, and claimed the title of ‘The Great Mother’. It was she who gave birth to the Sun God Ra, and has been referred to as “the eldest mother of the gods, who illuminated the first face.” She is considered the creator of weaving, which is where I started when I began my jewelry endeavor, with beads, string and leather, and began the journey of discovering myself through silver and fire.
“A breath of beauty
shivering to the rhythm of our pulse
crystalline staircase
climbing the path of a lifetime
with gems painted on our skins
history of woven desires
draped over hearts
wild stones sing into the ears
of whoever happens to listen
forever intertwined
with the land we bury our feet in
Love of Life
Lungs of Neith
We Breathe”
